Domestic Violence
Domestic Violence Lawyers in Seattle
Domestic violence is (a) Physical harm, bodily injury, assault, or the infliction of fear of imminent physical harm, bodily injury or assault, between family or household members; (b) sexual assault of one family or household member by another; or (c) stalking as defined in RCW 9A.46.110 of one family or household member by another family or household member. This is Washington’s law, RCW 26.50.010(1). It is important to understand that domestic violence can happen to anyone. If your partner is engaging in abusive behaviors you may want to seek legal assistance and/or support from a health professional and, of course, if you or someone you know is in danger, please call 911! You do not need to be a victim of a crime before seeking legal assistance. You may seek an order for protection in civil court.
Alternatively, if you are accused of domestic abuse then your rights (parental, civil, and/or criminal) may be at risk! It is important that your story is adequately presented to the court in order to defend yourself and protect your rights.
The attorneys at Cassady Family Law Group, L.L.P. have experience in both obtaining and responding to petitions for order for protection and restraining orders. Please contact us at (206) 623-5133 to set up a free 30 minute consultation to review your case.
